Just thought I'd update this! By now my cupboard under the stairs and a box in my room are now both rammed with car parts! Really need to get a decent session of fitting bits in my garage when coursework etc dies down! Here are some of the parts (Apologies for poor cam): Some parts Clutch and Fly Chunky ring to be shaved off fly Yellow import fogs and indicators I was gona bend to meet the spaced steering wheel Polybushes for w/bones, ARBs and Diff Braided lines in yellow For clutch and brakes. Also some cheap light nuts and a pointless earthing kit but it was chucked in with nuts So to fit: Clutch and flywheel (After having flywheel lightened and balanced) All the fluids in Gbox, Diff, Brakes/Clutch, Shifter turret Replace a few rubber caps, shifter boot and seals for future proofing Braided brake and clutch lines Rear 1.8 size brakes Refurb spare set of wishbones and polybush Swap old w/bones for new with new alignment bolts Get a fast road/Nurburgring spec alignment done at WIM Perhaps fit poly ARB bushes (or sell to fund uprated ARB's and mount on rosejoint solid droplinks) Fit and wire up front fogs Fit new main beams (need to pull my finger out on this as atm can't see any curbs, specially when broadside!) Find and fit rear tow hook Still gota spray/powdercoat wheels and/or maybe buy a second set of wheels when these tyres gone Other than that there is a never ending lists of parts to buy before turboing so that'll probably have to wait until I get Year in Industry later this year.

Hey all, Just though I'd update as went on a dyno day with the local car club down south (SouthCentralCruisers). Wouldn't normally bother with this kind of thing but got 4 runs for £20 as someone else pulled out. I'd expected 100hp at the fly as they are 115hp standard and it is 18 years old! The car has had decat, catback, Apexi filter and the igntion advanced to 14 BTDC. It made 117.3hp on it's 4th run (making 1hp more each run so far as it was still warming up!). I reckon it could have easily broke 120hp if up to temperature (the car still wasn't up to temp when they drove it off the dyno) as everyone was claiming it was reading under what they had expected. Not to mention that they applied a constant transmission loss according to drivetrain layout as opposed to doing a run down test to calculate it. Either way I could've claimed loudest car of the day and best handling as had no chance with highest power The two highest power outputs of ~400hp were from a V8 supercharged MG and a 7l Pontiac GTO! (Yes I was louder than both of those The guy only wore ear defenders on my run) I did open the valve on my exhaust in fairness though so louder than I run on the roads. But does prove to those who didn't believe it was loud! On the Dyno Power and Torque Curves Power and Lambda Readings Pontiac GTO 7l Either way was a good day and the readings showed that my car was running well (Got a lambda against power curve plot) and the dyno guy seemed pretty impressed with it (Clutch must only be slipping under heavy footed changes then). Now to get on with the rest of the mods when back at uni to get this car ready for summer and some track days! O and took these pictures day before after washing it. Needed the wash tbh but I love it being so small as took 2hours to wash, tcut and wax all the body Still think meguiars NXT Tech Wax is the best thing since sliced bread as made my 18 year old car in need of a respray look pretty dam good if I say so myself!

Dude id be really happy with that, I made 98 on mine which I was quite happy with, but obviously it can be done, I had mine done before the twin exhaust was fitted not sure if it will make much difference

Tbh the exhaust should make a noticeable difference on the 5's as the rear backbox is dead restrictive as standard! It's the only silencer other than the cat which is why it can make it so loud once taken off. Was your 98 not wheel horsepower then?

Ouch that does seem a bit low? I'm sure you could get that back though with a few mods and service etc

Thanks! Yeah was pretty pleased with it!
h4mm1 depends what has been done recently tbh. A decent oil with a new filter is a standard service obviously but worth checking the air filter is clean, maybe worth giving air box and piping a clean as well as the throttle body. Could also need some slack tightening in the throttle cable?
I'm planning on coming to more six hills meets so will probably see you there and also when you try out the hardtop. Will have a think about what else could be and a look around it then if you want?

Im hopefully changing the oil over to another make very soon, the air filter i will check also. The throttle body is probs crapped up so will try get that done when the weather is better. No idea with the throttle cable. Sounds great cheers

Ooo yeah hammi if you haven't done that it's worth doing. Bringing it to 14 degrees BTDC brings the torque peak down a fair few 100rpm which means it's a bit smoother in day to day use. I'm back in loughborough now h4mm1 so can try hardtop whenever really. I out tonight though as picking up uprated front and rear ARBs for the 5 Prob be fitting them tomorrow so could pop over sometime then? May even make six hills if I've fitted them by then
